In observation (and dubious celebration) of the 2026 EGH exhibit O Sordid Type: Edward Gorey’s Art of Lettering, the House and Thacher Hall invite you to join us for Gorey Letters: an evening of writing the alphabet in various ways. Learn the history of the typefaces Gorey drew his inspiration from and design letterforms of your very own.
Tickets include refreshments and light snacks, as well as a pen, ink, notepad, and a pre-cut sheet of Gorey’s beloved Bristol board for your “final project.” House Members receive $10 off their tickets with the use of their code at checkout. While this event is recommended for grown-ups, the more artistically inclined young adult in your life may get something out of it as well. We discourage the attendance of creatives young enough to be tempted into the consumption of ink, a pen, or some other delectable-yet-indigestible material.
Parking Note: There is no parking at Thacher Hall. Parking is available just across Route 6A from Thacher Hall around the Common, as well as at the Edward Gorey House, Post Office, and Chapter House Inn. Crossing attendants will be available to assist with crossing Route 6A at the designated crosswalk in front of Thacher Hall.
