Vineyard Wind Outreach Program

In 2016, Massachusetts passed a bill to require state utilities to procure 1,600 megawatts of offshore wind energy. Vineyard Wind is proposing to build a project southwest of Martha’s Vineyard and deliver the clean energy to Massachusetts via a buried transmission cable that would come through either Yarmouth or Barnstable. The open house is an opportunity for residents of the Yarmouth to learn about offshore wind, hear from Vineyard Wind’s leaders, learn how offshore wind projects are built and how the nearby environment is protected. Residents can also learn about the benefits of wind energy and the potential for economic benefits for Yarmouth. There will be a number of experts on hand to answer questions.
