Patriot Dedication & Living History Fair
The Town of Yarmouth cordially invites you to a historic milestone! Join us on Saturday, June 20, 2026, as we commemorate the 250th anniversary of Yarmouth’s own Declaration of Independence.
 
Step back into the year 1776 and experience the spirit of the American Revolution right here in Yarmouth Port. This event is a powerful tribute to the 477 "Old Yarmouth" patriots who fought for our freedom, brought to life through moving ceremonies and a vibrant community fair.
 
Schedule of Events
10:00 AM | Monument Dedication: Join us at Fred Thacher Park for the unveiling of a brand-new monument honoring the hundreds of local residents who served during the Revolution.
 
Grave Marking Ceremony: Following the dedication, we will move to the Yarmouth Port Ancient Cemetery for a formal ceremony.
 
Living History Interactive Experience: Encounter history face-to-face. Living History Interpreters in authentic period dress will be stationed at grave sites to share the stories of those who lived through the Revolutionary period.
 
Living History Fair & Family Fun
After the ceremonies, the celebration continues back at the monument site!
 
Enjoy an afternoon of:
Colonial Demonstrations: See what daily life was like in 18th-century Yarmouth.
Food Vendors: Enjoy local flavors while you explore the grounds.
Kids Activities: Engaging, hands-on history for our youngest patriots.
Living History Reenactors: Immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of 1776.

NOTE: This program includes live musket salutes using blank charges. Loud noises will occur.
